Our Fees

In most cases, there is no fee to you. Lenders pay us a commission for arranging your lending or insurance, and this does not affect your interest rate or loan costs.

When a Fee May Apply

In rare cases, we may charge a fee. This will always be disclosed and agreed upon before any work begins.

Commission Clawbacks

If your lending is repaid within 27 months of settlement, or insurance is cancelled within 24 months, the lender or insurer may require us to repay our commission.

If a clawback occurs, Mortgage Science may charge you a cost recovery fee up to $2,500 to cover the work completed (based on approx. 10 hours at $250/hr).

You will NOT be charged if:

  • We were given the opportunity but could not secure new lending or cover
  • You originally paid an upfront fee instead of us receiving commission

If you’re considering refinancing, topping up, or cancelling insurance, please speak with us first.

Conflicts of Interest & Incentives

Your interests are our priority. While we work closely with many providers, our advice is based solely on what is right for you.

From time to time, providers may assist with training or professional development, but this does not influence our advice.

How We Manage Conflicts

  • We follow a structured advice process centred on your goals
  • Our advisers complete annual training on managing conflicts of interest
  • We maintain registers for conflicts, gifts, and incentives
  • We undergo an annual independent compliance audit

Our Duties to You

Under the Financial Markets Conduct Act, we must:

  • Meet the competence and knowledge standards in the Code of Conduct
  • Give priority to your interests
  • Exercise care, diligence, and skill
  • Follow the ethical and client-care standards in the Code of Conduct
